Tara received her Masters in Counselling Psychology, at Athabasca University, BA in Psychology from the University Of Victoria, and has over 10 years of experience supporting individuals through a variety of life challenges. As a registered Clinical Counsellor, Certified Meditation Instructor, and Trauma-Informed Yoga Facilitator, Tara takes a holistic approach to counselling and wellness where she can apply a variety of modalities to therapy sessions.
Her experiences include working in numerous counselling settings; private individual, couples, and family sessions, school districts, provincial prisons, non-profit organizations, First Nations Communities, and the BC Schizophrenia Society as a Regional Educator. Tara has garnered experiences delivering team building and work/life balance workshops, facilitating trauma informed tips for workplaces, and debriefing from critical incidences. Tara is passionate about taking a holistic, client-centred, and individualized approach to therapy with talk and somatic therapy pieces. Her clients value her calming and soothing presence which allows for the development of a positive therapeutic alliance. She recognizes that success in therapy happens through developing rapport, trust, respect, and collaboration with clients. Her core values include connection, lifelong learning, and genuineness.
COUNSELLING MODALITIES: Tara has certifications in CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Exposure Response and Narrative therapies, Meditation Instruction, Somatic Embodiment Regulation Strategies, and specialty San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Training, OCD treatment and EMDR
